Our History
In approximately 1956, Erwin P. Friesen founded Erwin P. Friesen and Sons. Erwin had a small grain and livestock farm, in the winter months he did forestry and logging as well as produced fence post products. Erwin’s work evolved to include topsoil and gravel supply and hauling in the summer months for local municipalities and construction projects.
In September 1984, after spending a number of years in road construction and mining, Erwin’s son Lauren and wife Emily took over the operation of the business and renamed it Friesen Hauling. From a one-man operation, it has grown to employ 20 full time year-round employees and over 30 in the summer season.
The business continued to evolve and started to provide more site work, excavation, and contracting services. In 2012, “Excavating” was added to our company name; thus Friesen Hauling and Excavating was born.
After many years of service, Lauren stepped down in 2014 making way for his son, Chris, as the new owner of Friesen Hauling and Excavating. Chris is proudly a 3rd generation family member to be part of our heritage. Chris carries on the family legacy of passion, innovation, integrity, and honesty that had been passed down over many generations.
